Can myopia be treated with Lasik surgery?
Myopia is also known as nearsightedness. With myopia, you can see nearby objects clear but far away objects will be blurred for you. Different degrees of myopia and they all can be treated with refractive surgery with different lasers including:
- Myopia- this is the most common
- Degenerative- this form gets worse over time and is usually seen in certain cultures including Chinese, Japanese, and Jewish.
- Nocturnal- this is usually where the person can’t see well at night or in low lighted conditions
- Pseudomyopia- blurring of your distant vision
If you are over 40 and considering getting lasik to fix your myopia then it usually is not a good idea because your eyes lose the ability to change focus. |
