Epi-LASIK

Epi-Lasik is another type of Lasik surgery. It was created to help solve some of the problems associated with other Lasik or Lasek eye surgery procedures. In essence, Epi-Lasik eye surgery is a cross between the two, even though it does differ.

Difference with Epi-Lasik surgery:

  • A blunt, plastic oscillating blade instead of a finer blade
  • Instead of  alcohol, the plastic blade is used, to separate the sheet from the eye

Epi-lasik is best for individuals with steeper corneas and those with less steep corneas.

Epi-Lasik procedure:

  • The flap is create
  • The flap is then lifted and folded back
  • An excimer laser is used to reshape the cornea
  • The flap is put in place
  • A special contact lens is placed on the eye
