IntraLase "Bladeless" LASIK

InterLase Lasik is laser eye surgery without the use of a microkeratome. A microkeratome is a cutting tool such as a knife with a metal blade, which is commonly used in traditional Lasik procedures.

Procedure:

  • A special laser is used instead of a blade
  • A flap is created using two lasers instead of one
  • The flap is replaced

The comparison:

  • Metal Blades can cause uneven flap uneven edges
  • Metal blades are blamed for incomplete flaps
  • Metal blades are blamed for improper flaps
  • InterLase Lasik all three are seen less.

Complications with InterLase Lasik:

  • Light sensitivity in 1 percent up to 20 percent of all patients.
  • Light sensitivity is temporary
  • Cost of InerLase Lasik is more than traditional eye surgery with prices around $300 per eye.
