Lasik surgery terms E to G
Here are the common terms you will hear or see on your many trips to the doctor before, during, and after your surgery. Now you will know what they mean.
- Endothelium- layer of cells on the inside surface of the cornea.
- Epithelium-layer of cells on the outside of the cornea and the eye's first defense against infection.
- Excimer laser- this is the ultraviolet laser that will remove the corneal tissue
- Farsightedness-common term for hyperopia.
- FDA- the abbreviation for the Food and Drug Administration.
- Flap & Zap- slang term for LASIK.
- Ghost Image- a fainter second image of the object you are viewing.
- Glare scatter- from bright light that decreases vision.
