Possible serious complications

Like any surgery you have, there are always some risks that may occur. With Lasik eye surgery, the possible serious complications include:
  • May lose vision
  • Severe dry eye
  • You may still need contacts after surgery
  • You may have some glare or halos that would affect your night vision
  • Very few end up with 20/20 and you may need more treatments
  • If you are far-sighted, it may not help as you get older and your results will weaken.
  • Lasers are still relatively new and not all the information on long-term results is in.

Prior to eye surgery, you should talk with your health care provider and then the eye surgeon to learn what complications may occur.
