Procedures of LASIK surgery
There are six major types of Lasik surgery, which are close to the same procedure only done with different lasers, medical instruments, or with or without blades.
The major procedures of Lasik surgery include:
- PRK
- Custom Wavefront Lasik
- Epi-Lasik
- Lasek
- IntraLase Lasik
- Presby Lasik
Brief explanation:
- PRK is the original laser eye surgery, which is still preferred by some ophthalmologist today.
- Custom Wavefront Lasik is a custom Lasik surgery that creates a 3-D map to ensure you are getting the proper care
- Epi-Lasik does not use alcohol to remove the outer layer of the cornea
- Lasek is a laser procedure that does not use a flap, mainly used for thin corneas
- IntraLase Lasik uses two lasers and no blade
- Presby Lasik is used to correct presbyopes
